Cartography: Season One Accurate Map of Ponyville

From Aurebesh

Fillies and Gentlecolts,

I present you with the first 80%-ish accurate map of Ponyville with details of each house and street. It took about two weeks working off and on to pull this off, but you can now visualize where everything happens in 3/4 of Ponyville along with large chunks of the surrounding territory. The only places that are definitely inaccurate are portions of the northern side of town, and this is simply because there was not enough evidence/scenes to accurately place these buildings.

This map was created specifically for helping create Ponyville in the “Thinking with Ponies” project (also known as “Portal 2.5 - Better Living Through Science and Ponies). The map and the accompanying building guides are also available for use by everypony who needs an accurate map of Ponyville, whether it’s for making a game or something else entirely.

Evidence of accuracy (a.k.a. Building Guides) for everything can be found in my gallery "Map of Ponyville" in 19 pieces. All reference pictures where taken and pieced together straight from the episodes themselves. Please keep in mind that perspective does not necessarily apply in some cases. Also, a small handful of the buildings may change in appearance as well due to minor inter-episode discrepancies. Connections between locations were decided based on numerous episodes, not just coincidences found in a single shot in one episode. Also, my original notes sorted by episode can be provided upon request.

Here’s to hoping this helps everypony with their projects. I’m looking forward to seeing what turns up.

—Aurabesh

Note from the Editor:

The work and level of detail poured into this project is simply stunning.  Each corner of Ponyville is well grafted and meticulously argued for.  This map represents a milestone in diligence achieved within the Brony community and we congratulate Aurebesh for this achievement!
